The Artist At Work

It all started when…

I grew up in art. I was always a vivid dreamer and was blessed with parents who gave me many opportunities explore both in nature and in materials. Collage came into my life many times before was ready to dive in. When I was ready I drove right in, creating dreamy landscapes fully collaged. Since the birth of my children I needed to develop a blend of painting and collage as time to spend in the rhythm of the scissors became very limited. Curiosity led me to flowers and landscapes made with a blend of painting and collage.

Inspired by Nature

I love the wonder of nature. I take a lot of inspiration from it. The changing seasons, the process of time, the complex quiet, the layers, the hidden. I love the curiosity and intimacy that only grows more intense with close in focus. I use paint and fabric like puzzle pieces to create paintings with a dream feel.

I am Karina Seppi. I am an artist based in Mountain View, CA. I explore with paints and fabrics to make art.
I attended Milwaukee institute of art and design and California college of the arts. When I am not dreaming up artwork, I can be found playing outside with my two girls, contra dancing, making homemade pasta, or handsewing.
